MORELAND HORSES by Marty Blocker Copyright © 1999 What kind of horse does Steve Moreland like? Now that's kind of hard to say. He told me once, "He likes to be recognized Riding half a mile away!" He says the best horse he'll own is a raw boned gray That's easy on the lope. An honest old pard that's probably part Perch, And will hold anything that you rope. The goin'est bronc was the McMurtrey roan, A more dishonest colt never sucked. But you could ride him for days and never find bottom, Besides, Steve never cared if they bucked. He's too fond of Paints and horses of color He always has two or three as a rule. The only hand in these parts who will try out an App And he'll show up sometimes on a mule. Horse tradin' for sure is his Siren's song And probably his only vice. He's done it all his days and sometimes gets "got" And that gets him in "dutch" with his wife. So what kind of horse does Steve Moreland ride? That's a good question sure 'nuff! If it's gonna stay in his corral very long, It dang sure has to be tough. |
